About Us
Background
Over the years, security agencies across the country have felt the need
for a long term and focused approach in developing technology to meet
the country’s internal security challenges- specially to address the
requirements of state and central police forces and agencies involved in
public safety and disaster management.
Internal security has distinct requirements in terms of complexities
and challenges as the threats arise on account of various factors such
as social structures and inherent inequities; therefore, a different
approach would be essential. NCETIS is expected to address this national
requirement.
National Center of Excellence in Technology for Internal Security (NCETIS) at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay has been set up under Government of India's flagship Digital India program. It is targeted towards developing indigenous technology and self-sufficiency in the broad areas of Electronics System Design Manufacturing (ESDM) in the strategic sector of internal security.
