Management of mental health for security personnel

Abstract:
In today’s fast-paced world, and specially post-covid, we are faced with a plethora of psychiatric issues which prevent us from reaching our potential. This talk will attempt to point out common mental health issues, and discuss methods of dealing with them.
Biography:
Dr. Kersi Chavda has work experience spanning more than 35 years. He had been part of the first panel of the Maharashtra government that had laid down concessions for Learning Disabilities in Mumbai. Dr. Chavda is the Past President of the Bombay Psychiatry Society and is a consultant at the PD Hinduja National, Hinduja Healthcare and the Sir HN Reliance foundation hospitals. Currently, he is serving as an advisor of the IPS Task Force dealing with LGBTQ and has been the chairperson of the task force of the Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS) dealing with school psychiatry and counselling.
Dr. Kersi Chavda was also a panel member of the task force of the IPS dealing with ethical boundaries between client and their doctor. This is now being taken up by the IMC as a guideline across Indian health services. Dr. Chavda was chairperson of the task force of the IPS dealing with the LGBTQ community. The task force issued a position statement quoted in the landmark judgement by Two of the five learned judges when they repealed Section 377. Dr. Chavda was also awarded the prestigious Dr SN Lulla oration award in 2020.
